Over Hyped? : Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream & Serum
I have tried my fair share of skin care products over the years, some are completely overhyped while some are so underrated.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum and EyeCream are two that have received a-lot of hype over the years and I am going to give you an honest breakdown on if its actually worth the hype. Let’s go over;
What is it supposed to do?
Skin types this is best for.
Does it Work?
**Usage tip
Price: Is it worth it?
Conclusion: Is it over Hyped?
Even though this Estee Lauder line is titled, Advance Night Repair, it can be used any time of day. The difference would be to add your SPF during the day. Because your skin is known to repair and renew itself at night, having a solid night time routine will aid your skin tremendously. With that logic Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair adds ingredients that work with your skin’s night time rhythm and has technological advancements, including trademarked ingredients such as ChronoluxCB. They also have Anti-Pollution Technology (antioxidants) to neutralize free radicals and hyaluronic acid to maximize moisture.
What is it supposed to do?
Estee Lauder ANR Serum, AKA, Advance Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex. This is a fast- penetrating serum that reduces the look of aging. Promising to:
Smooth skin with less lines,
Improve radiance and un-even tone
Improve firmness
Strengthen skin barrier in 4 hours.
Estee Lauder ANR eye-cream, AkA, The Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex Synchronized Recovery. This is a light weight texture that is supposed to absorb quickly and boasts of being “proven for all ethnicities”. They claim to essentially make your eyes look younger by doing the following;
Repair - ‘Dramatically reduce the signs of eye aging; puffiness, lines and dryness.’
Brighten dark circles in 3 weeks.
Prevent free radical damage with anti-oxidants that last up to 8 hours.
Skin types this is best for.
The serum and eye cream is noted to be best for all skin types and promises to not clog your pores. It claims to be best for skin affected by aging, loss of firmness, lines, wrinkles, dryness, dehydration, dullness, loss of radiance and uneven skin-tone.
I do have combination skin that leans towards dry and sensitivities with weather/allergy induced eczema. My skin is also prone to clogging and looking dull from too much coffee and dryness in some spots. Also, being in the last stretch of my 30’s, I am battling some skin signs of aging.
Does it work?
ANR Serum. ANR serum is a product I loved from the day I tried it. I saw an immediate brightening effect upon using this serum so the claim of adding radiance has proven to be true for me. I use this serum most morning & nights. My skin feels smoother, plumper and hydrated immediately after use, and though I have not used this serum over the past couple years, I have noticed that my skin tone is a lot more even.
ANR Eye Cream. What I’ve noticed after using Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair serum and eye cream for over 2 years is my that my eye area feels hydrated, plumped & smooth when I use this. I particularly like that it sinks into my skin. It does not stay on top of my skin which can cause pilling with other products that I layer or compromise my concealer. I have not noticed that this did anything for my dark circles which is hereditary nor can I attest to the it preventing free radical damage.
I have tried many other eye-creams over time, but I keep coming back to this eye cream. I love that it absorbs quickly and you can feel and see an immediate difference no matter what the previous steps in your skin care routine were. My eyes tend to be a bit sensitive, and this eye cream does not sting, or cause my eyes to tear up. I also use contact lenses, and I have never encountered a problem with sensitivity while using this eye cream.
**Usage tip
In addition to applying this serum and eye cream in the morning and evening, try using this serum as a primer for a radiant glow. Apply this eye cream before applying concealer to avoid your concealer caking or making your under eyes look extra dry.
Price: Good value for money?
ANR eye cream has turned me into an eye cream snob. There are only a few eye creams that I have tried (that were more expensive) that can compare to this. The hydration, how easily it absorbs and the radiance if provides are all stellar. This retails at USD $64. - 0.5oz. and it is a comparable price to other eye - creams. If you have sensitive eyes like I do or your eyes tear up easily you will appreciate how much time this eye cream will save you from not having to recover from either scenario. Since this does what I hoped it will do, I say yes, it is worth the price.
As for the serum, I do love the performance of this, and have been repurchasing it several times over the past couple years, so it is something that I do value and enjoy using. This retails for USD $105 - 1.7oz. which comes in several different sizes. This is more on the expensive side of serums, but for me, I think it is worth it.
Conclusion: Is it Over hyped?
Considering the claims of Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair eye cream & serum, the skin types it is best for, what it is used for and the price, I would say the hype is real. This product is worth it. Drop a comment and let me know if you have tried these products, if you planned on trying it, what you think of it and if you have an alternative that you love?
